By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:
Describe the anatomical structure and physiological functions of the skin, including the ageing process and its intrinsic and extrinsic contributors.
Identify and differentiate common dermatological conditions such as acne, rosacea, and hyperpigmentation, including their pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and treatment pathways.
Evaluate the role of key active ingredients in skincare (e.g. retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid) and understand their mechanisms of action, clinical indications, and limitations.
Formulate personalised skincare routines for various patient profiles and skin concerns, including acne, photoageing, sensitivity, pigmentation, and compromised barrier function.
Demonstrate an understanding of specific considerations for treating skin of colour, pregnant/breastfeeding patients, and peri/menopausal skin, ensuring safe and inclusive care.
Perform a structured skin consultation and assessment, incorporating history-taking, examination tools (e.g. Fitzpatrick and Glogau scales), and treatment planning.
Explain the principles and clinical applications of chemical peels, including appropriate peel selection, patient preparation, aftercare, and complication management.
Design multimodal treatment strategies that integrate topical skincare, in-clinic procedures, and long-term skin maintenance plans.
Understand the positioning of medical-grade skincare within the wider skincare market, including consumer trends, commercial opportunities, and ethical product recommendation practices.
